The Fringe Blouse/Dress pattern is from Chalk & Notch and is the September 2018 sewing pattern for the sew my style sew along. This pattern comes in two main views, with an option to sew a dress or a blouse for each view option. For my dress, I decided to sew the view B dress.

Sewing Instructions for View B for the Fringe Dress
Just like the Halifax Hoodie from Hey June, this pattern provided you with instructions on how to print out the size pattern you need. This simple feature is a HUGE time saver when you’re cutting out your sewing pattern. I was too excited to start this project and missed this was an option when I printed out the pattern from my phone. (Plus you can only take advantage of that option by printing from a desktop)
This pattern states it is for intermediate sewers, and I would agree with that statement. The instructions were detailed and easy to follow. Several of the steps may be a little tricky for beginner sewers, but the instructions include a sketch for every each step. If you’re a beginner sewer, I recommend testing out this pattern on scrap or cheap fabric (This is called muslin) before you start sewing with your main fabric.
Fringe Dress Pattern Modifications
I love the look, design, and fit of this dress. While sewing the pattern, I did not make any modifications – which is a first for me! The next time I sew this pattern, I may test out shortening the sleeves but other than that, I wouldn’t change much. Did you participate in this month’s sew along or do you plan to sew this pattern?
