I love to travel with my family. This past month we traveled to Niagara Falls, Chicago, and Florida. It has been a busy month, with not a lot of time for sewing. Knowing this, before the month began, I set out to sew my Sew my Style dress and this Lulu dress so I would be able to take them on any one of my upcoming trips.

Lulu Dress by Sew Over It

The Lulu Dress by Sew Over It is the perfect everyday dress. It’s comfortable and could be dressed up or down depending on what you wear with it. This pattern comes in three views, with an option for a dress with ¾ length sleeves, a dress with short sleeves and a blouse. For my dress, I decided to sew version 1 – the dress with 3/4th length sleeves. That way I can wear this dress as we transition into the fall months here in Ohio.

Sewing Instructions for Version 1 of the Lulu Dress

This pattern is a PDF download. Once you purchase the PDF pattern you can easily print, cut it out, and begin sewing!

This A-line shift dress is a simple design, but the keyhole and gathered neckline add some additional interest to the dress. I love how my dress turned out. The drapey chambray was a perfect choice! The next time I sew this dress, I may sew with cotton fabric, which would create a more structured dress.

The lulu dress pattern doesn’t have many pattern pieces, so the dress is a quick sew. This pattern states it is for advanced beginners, but even if you were a beginner sewer, I would encourage you to try out this pattern. The instructions were detailed, easy to follow and included an image for each step.

Lulu Pattern Modifications

"

Since this was a quick sew, I did not end up making any modifications to the pattern. The next time I sew this dress, I plan to wait to cut out the bodice front keyhole until I have the lining piece sewn to it. I think this simple adjustment will help to make the perfect keyhole and would reduce the amount of time it takes to complete this step. Other than that one step, I loved sewing this dress and am looking forward to wearing it during the fall months here in Ohio!
