I recently uploaded a tutorial on how I curl my hair without a curling wand. Most days after I curl my hair or if I’m on day 2-3 of unwashed hair, I like to add a braid or two to enhance the look. I love how simple braids can dress up a look quickly and add some dimension to your hair! Below are six options of braided hairstyles. All of the braided hairstyles start out with 1-2 braids, but end the look is slightly unique.
Each of the hairstyles below can be done with your natural hair, or you can add clip-in hair extensions to gain extra body.
Simple Braid with Curls
Option 1: After you’ve curled your hair, take a section of hair near the front of your head and separate into 3 strands and braid a normal braid. Once you’re done, pin back with a bobby pin. When braiding this section, you can start at your hairline or a little farther back leaving curled pieces out to frame your face (like I did).
Double Braid with Curls
Option 2: Add an additional braid to the look. Take a section of hair below the original braid and separate it into 3 pieces. Instead of a regular braid, you’ll want to create a dutch braid. To do this, loop the hair under each section instead of over. Once the braid is completed, pin back the second braid with bobby pins.
Double Braid Side Ponytail with Curls
Option 3/4: Create two braids following the same steps as option 1 and 2, but instead of pinning back the hair with bobby pins, pull the hair into a ponytail. (Either a side ponytail or a regular ponytail) To complete the look, wrap a strand of hair around your ponytail holder and pin in place with a bobby pin or a clear elastic.
Double Braid Ponytail with Curls
Triple Braid Side Ponytail with Curls
Option 5: Instead of leaving your hair in a simple ponytail like what was shown in option 3/4, add an additional loose braid to the look! Finish your look by wrapping the end of your ponytail with hair.
Double Braided, Side Bun with Curls
Option 6: The final look finishes the double braided hairstyle with a side bun. Once you’re done braiding your hair, pull your finished braids and hair into a ponytail. Twist the remaining hair into a bun and pin in place with an elastic or bobby pins.
