I love it when friends or family come over to my house for a visit, or to stay the night. Having a space that is welcoming and comfortable to guests is essential, and I kept this in mind while I was redoing our guest bathroom. I wanted to make sure the design made it so visitors can have easy access to what they need while they come over for dinner or spend the night.
Now when guests come over, they have access to what they need. Although it might seem trivial, this simple gesture helps make guests feel welcomed and comfortable in your home. In the post below, I’m going to walk you through some of my favorite ways to get your bathroom ready for guests – it’s easier than you might think!
5 Main Essentials Every Guest Bathroom Needs
- Clean and Nice Towels
- Provide Grooming Essentials
- Make It Smell Fragrant
- Brighten Up Space
- Add Decorations
Nice Towels that Are Accessible
How to Create Storage Space for Towels, Bathrobes, etc.
During our recent guest bathroom renovation, we made sure to include spaces where we could visibly store towels. We added shower hooks where we can hang fresh towels, open shelves, and a woven storage basket on the toilet. Now, I can easily store towels for my guests.
Provide Grooming Essentials
After I’ve stocked the towels, I make sure that my bathroom is stocked with basic grooming essentials. That way, I know they have what they need, in case they’ve forgotten something at home. For these essentials, I will store them on our open shelves, on the counter, or I will show then where they are stored in the vanity.
- Shampoo/Conditioner (can be travel sized)
- Bath soap
- Lotion
- Toothpaste
- Extra Toilet paper
- Face wash
- Mini first aid kit
- Misc. Toiletries (razor, nail clippers, tampons, etc.)
- Bathrobe
Make It Smell Nice
Brighten Up Space
The bright and clean bathrooms feel relaxing, welcoming, and can make even small spaces feel larger.
How to Brighten Your Bathroom without Windows
Adding greenery with faux plants can help brighten your space and bring more color to the room!
Make Your Space Brighter with Windows
If your bathroom does have windows, let the light shine in! But, make sure to add shades or a privacy film to the windows.
Add Decorations to Tie in the Room
In our bathroom redesign, we used the navy as the accent color against the white and tied in green with faux plants and our rug. While these elements are small, they’re essential to tie the room together and make your guests feel welcomed and your room feel complete.
