Pinterest boards can now be split into sections
Have you ever been overwhelmed by the amount of pins you’ve created on Pinterest? I know I have! There have been multiple occasions that I’ve pinned a recipe or a project to a board and when I go back to look for it, I don’t know where it’s located. Pinterest knows that this has been a concern for their users, and they continue to make improvements to their platform’s search capabilities.
In their most recent update, they added a feature called “sections” within any board you create. This feature can be used for both public and private boards. Sections add categories/subdivisions within a board, allowing you to organize your pins under main headings. For example, you can now have one recipe board and create sections such as desserts, appetizers, salads, etc. Another example would be to organize a decorating board by rooms you have in your home. That way, you can easily find what you need after pinning.
Why did Pinterest decide to implement sections? According to Pinterest’s CEO, Ben Silbermann, “It’s been a really popular feature request for years. A lot of people create a board, and then after they create it, they want to add structure to it.” This new feature does just that.
How to Clean Up and Organize your Pinterest Boards
You can easily organize your boards and existing pins within your app or in a browser on a desktop.
- Step 1: Go to the Pinterest Board you’d like to organize and click on “Add Section”
- Step 2: Name your new section
- Step 3: Look through your existing pins from the original board and select which ones you’d like to add to your new section. Once you’re done selecting the pin, hit next and your pins will automatically be moved. And you’re done!
A similar process can be done to move pins from other boards to the new sections you create. I am working on another blog post that explains how to do that.
Overall, the process to create sections is pretty straight-forward. Depending on how many pins you have, it doesn’t take too long to complete. As of right now, there does not appear to be any SEO/search value to moving your pins into sections, but I could see that changing in the future. So, if you set up sections on your account, make sure they’re descriptive and use keywords that identify what the board is about! What do you think about this new feature? Do you like it? Have you implemented it on your boards? Let me know in the comments below!
We absolutely love your blog and find most of your post’s to be what precisely I’m looking for.
Does one offer guest writers to write content in your case?
I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on some of the subjects you write about here.
Again, awesome site!
