I have been using dry shampoo for years and love that by using it I can go days between washing my hair! Skipping days in-between washes is not only good for my hair and scalp, but it saves me so much time in the morning! For the past month, I have been testing drugstore dry shampoos and trying to find the ultimate affordable dry shampoo. Tresemme is one of the first dry shampoos I ever tried and is the last drugstore dry shampoo I will be testing before I try a DIY option.
Are you new to my blog and this series? You can catch up on my reviews on the following drugstore shampoos: Batiste, Not Your Mother’s and Hask.
Testing Tresemme’s Dry Shampoo
Tresseme has two dry shampoo options you can purchase. (Basic Care & Volumizing) The one I tested was their volumizing dry shampoo. According to Utla’s website, this dry shampoo is designed to absorb excess oil without leaving a residue so you can “rock salon-gorgeous hair even on the second day.” The volumizing dry shampoo claims to be weightless and will absorb excess oil without leaving a visible residue. Alright, let’s put this dry shampoo to the test!
Monday – Day 4:
Day four was my first-day using dry shampoo. I wore my hair half up and in a braid. (I added volume to my braid by added in Luxy Hair extensions)
Tuesday – Day 5:
I did not add any additional dry shampoo to my hair on day five.
Wednesday – Day 6:
On day 6, my hair started to feel heavy and full of product. I wore my hair in a half-up bun and added a scarf from Old Navy.
Thursday – Day 7:
By day 7, I didn’t want to wear my hair down anymore so I quickly added dry shampoo to my hair and pulled it up into a braided bun.
Friday – Day 8:
I made it to day 8! I wore my hair in a low bun the majority of the day before washing.
After Testing Tresemme’s Dry Shampoo, Would I Recommend it?
It’s been a long time since I purchased Tresemme’s dry shampoo and now I remember why. Yes, the product absorbed oil from my hair, but it left my hair heavy. By or before day 6, I wanted to give in and wash my hair. This dry shampoo spray is bright white and took longer to absorb into my hair. So does this dry shampoo do its job? Yes – but not as well as the other products in this series (which aren’t that much more expensive) and I won’t be repurchasing.
